Innsegall Terms of Service for the Innsegall for Macintosh alpha. Local-first Macintosh triage with Battle Scout reports. Not antivirus.

Terms of Service

Alpha notice. The Innsegall application for Macintosh is pre-release software during the September 2026 alpha. Battle Scout reports are for triage and peace of mind, not a guarantee of security. Innsegall is not antivirus and does not replace professional IT or Apple support. These Terms are subject to full counsel review before paid general availability.

1. Agreement to these Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Innsegall's website (innsegall.com), the Innsegall application for Macintosh, Battle Scout reports, optional clan features, optional Parley assistance, and related alpha services (collectively, the "Service") operated by Innsegall ("we," "us," "our").

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and "you" includes that organization.

2. Description of the Service

Innsegall (Innsegall for Macintosh) is post-panic Macintosh triage · a local check after a scareware popup, suspicious link, or "am I okay?" moment. The Service runs read-only checks on your Mac and produces a Battle Scout report in plain language (for example LIKELY_OK, FIX_LIST, or ESCALATE).

The Service sits between panic and Genius Bar · clarity, not combat. We do not provide always-on scanning, continuous monitoring, or a promise that your Mac is clean forever.

3. What we are · and what we are not

We do:

  • Run checks locally on your Mac during a session you start.
  • Show what we checked before any suggested fix.
  • Let you keep, export, or share your Battle Scout on your terms.
  • Track free-tier Voyages (1st & 15th) on your device during alpha.

We do not:

  • Upload your files or browsing history by default as part of standard Layer 1 operation.
  • Display fake "VIRUS DETECTED" or similar scare alerts.
  • Guarantee zero malware, zero risk, or perfect security outcomes.
  • Require a cloud account for basic alpha scout runs.
  • Act as antivirus, endpoint protection, or a substitute for Apple Support, professional IT, or incident response.

A Battle Scout is an informational receipt, not a warranty, certification, or professional security opinion. You decide what to do next · change passwords, contact Apple, Sound the Horn, or seek other help.

4. Alpha software

The Innsegall for Macintosh alpha is pre-release software. Features, pricing, availability, and these Terms may change without notice during alpha. The Service may contain bugs, incomplete functionality, or temporary outages.

Alpha access itself may be free while we iterate. We may invite, limit, or revoke alpha participants at our discretion. You acknowledge that alpha software is provided for evaluation and feedback, and that you should maintain backups and exercise judgment before applying any suggested changes on your Mac.

5. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EEA/UK where applicable) to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the Service only with consent of a parent or legal guardian.

You represent that you will use the Service only on Mac computers you own or are authorized to inspect, and in compliance with applicable law and these Terms.

6. License and restrictions

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Innsegall application for Macintosh and access innsegall.com for personal or internal business use during alpha.

You may not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except where law expressly permits.
  • Remove proprietary notices or misrepresent affiliation with Innsegall, Apple, or Microsoft.
  • Scrape, overload, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Resell, sublicense, or offer the Service as a managed security product without our written permission.
  • Use the Service to develop a competing product by copying non-public interfaces or content.

7. Local-first operation

Layer 1 checks run on your Mac. Battle Scouts are assembled and stored locally unless you choose to export or share them. Mutations (fixes) require your explicit confirmation before changes are applied.

You control what leaves your device · via export, AirDrop, email, clan share, Parley, or other channels you initiate. See our Privacy Policy for data practices.

8. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service lawfully and only on devices you are permitted to check. You may not:

  • Use the Service to access, probe, or compromise systems you do not own or lack authorization to test.
  • Bypass scout quotas, license limits, or technical restrictions.
  • Represent a Battle Scout as an official Apple, Microsoft, or government security clearance.
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse others through clan sharing, Parley, or support channels.
  • Upload malware or use the Service to distribute harmful code.
  • Use the Service in violation of export control, privacy, or computer access laws.

We may investigate violations and cooperate with law enforcement where required.

9. Pricing and billing (alpha)

Paid tiers (Extra run and Clan plan) are purchased through Stripe Checkout at innsegall.com pricing. After payment you download a signed license.json and run innsegall plan --import-license on your Mac. Billing questions: hello@innsegall.com. Current alpha pricing:

  • Free tier: two (2) Voyages per month on the 1st and 15th · scheduled hygiene that opens your Battle Scout and updates your Voyage chart · counted locally on your Mac.
  • Extra run: $4.20 per additional Battle Scout beyond your free Voyages.
  • Clan plan: $6.67 per month · up to five (5) seats · unlimited scouts · share Battle Scouts with people you trust.

Prices are in U.S. dollars unless stated otherwise. Taxes may apply.

Refunds and cancellations

  • Extra run ($4.20): a one-time, final, non-refundable fee. Once your signed license.json is delivered at checkout, the scout credit is issued automatically · no manual review loop. Chargebacks without contacting us first may result in license revocation.
  • Clan plan ($6.67/mo): recurring subscription · cancel anytime through Stripe Customer Portal · access continues through the paid period · no prorated refunds for partial months unless required by law.
  • Free Voyages: no payment · no refund applies.

Nothing in this section limits mandatory consumer rights in your jurisdiction. For billing errors (duplicate charge, wrong SKU), email hello@innsegall.com within fourteen (14) days with your Stripe receipt · we will correct verifiable errors in our systems without a back-and-forth saga.

Alpha pricing and tier limits may change before general availability; we will communicate material changes when practical.

Failure to pay for purchased runs or clan seats may result in suspension of paid features. Free-tier Voyages may continue subject to app behavior and these Terms.

10. Clan sharing

Optional Bring your clan features let you share Battle Scout content with people you designate. You are responsible for what you share and with whom. Clan members must comply with these Terms.

We do not monitor private shares between you and your clan. If you share sensitive information, you assume the risk that recipients may retain or forward it outside our control.

11. Parley and third-party services

Optional Parley assistance may route prompts to AI providers you configure. If you use bring-your-own-key (BYOK), your API keys stay on your device (for example Keychain), not on our servers · subject to the provider's terms.

The Service may reference or integrate with Apple macOS, App Store, Keychain, and third-party tools. Those services are governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party products, AI outputs, or advice generated outside our direct control.

AI-generated content may be inaccurate. You must verify recommendations before acting on them, especially before changing system settings or deleting files.

12. Intellectual property

The Service, including software, design, trademarks, documentation, and website content (excluding your data and Battle Scouts), is owned by Innsegall or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws.

You retain ownership of your Mac data and Battle Scout contents. You grant us a limited license to process information you submit to us (for example support email) solely to operate and improve the Service.

Feedback you provide may be used by us without restriction or compensation, provided we do not publicly attribute confidential information you mark as such.

13. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, what stays on your Mac, retention, and your rights. By using the Service, you consent to data practices described there.

During alpha, innsegall.com v0.1 does not use third-party analytics. Email us at hello@innsegall.com for alpha or billing · we use your address only to communicate about Innsegall and do not sell contact lists.

14. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will detect all threats, be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for your specific security requirements. Battle Scout outcomes are informational and may be incomplete or outdated relative to your actual system state.

You are solely responsible for decisions you make based on a Battle Scout, including applying fixes, sharing reports, or delaying professional help.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Innsegall and its officers, directors, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business interruption, arising from or related to the Service or these Terms.

Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the claim, or (b) fifty U.S. dollars ($50).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

16. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Innsegall and its affiliates from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, violation of these Terms, unauthorized sharing of Battle Scouts, or infringement of third-party rights.

17. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, alpha invitations, or paid features if you violate these Terms, abuse clan or Parley features, fail to pay applicable fees, or if we wind down the alpha program.

You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the Innsegall application and ceasing use of innsegall.com. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, governing law, and dispute resolution) will survive.

18. Dispute resolution

Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us at hello@innsegall.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least thirty (30) days.

If informal resolution fails, disputes will be resolved in the courts or forums specified under Section 19, except where applicable law grants you non-waivable rights to bring claims in your home jurisdiction.

19. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles · or, if our entity formation is finalized in a different U.S. state before general availability, the State of formation TBD as updated on innsegall.com/tos with notice.

Exclusive venue for disputes not subject to arbitration (if any is adopted in a future version) shall be state or federal courts located in Delaware, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

20. Changes to these Terms

Alpha moves fast. We may update these Terms and our Privacy Policy as the product evolves. We will post revised Terms on innsegall.com/tos with a new effective date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance unless law requires additional consent.

We will email alpha users about material changes when practical.

21. General provisions

  • Entire agreement: These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement regarding the Service during alpha.
  • Severability: If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect.
  • No waiver: Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of future enforcement.
  • Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger or sale.
  • Force majeure: We are not liable for delays or failures due to events beyond our reasonable control.
  • Export: You may not use the Service where prohibited by U.S. export laws or sanctions.
