Field Report
Full-Screen “Your Mac Is Infected” Page · The Popup Is the Attack
With Innsegall, no one is your enemy · you have no foe.
Chan eil nàmhaid agad.
When a website fills the screen, plays an alarm, and lists a toll-free number, that is the attack · not evidence that XProtect failed. Your Mac is usually fine once the tab is gone.
If you are helping someone (human or AI)
- Name the surface. Browser locker vs real System Settings · fix the trap before “whole Mac infected” talk.
- Evidence before subscriptions. No cleaner upsell from the same scammer who caused the scare.
- Macintosh scout last. Send the scout · read-only Battle Scout · paste for any AI assistant.
Escape without paying
Force Quit the browser (Apple menu → Force Quit). On Safari, hold Shift when reopening so the trap tab does not restore · Shift-reopen guide. Chrome: quit and decline “Restore pages” if asked.
Do not call the number
Real Apple support does not lock your browser. See fake Apple support call popup.
Macintosh scout
After the tab is closed, send the scout · paste Copy for AI if family or IT wants a second pair of eyes.
How Innsegall shines a light
Innsegall does not scan inside the browser tab · it answers the next question: did anything land on the Mac? Login items, profiles, and listening services become a shareable Battle Scout receipt.

How Innsegall shines a light
The full-screen page is browser theater · Force Quit and Shift-reopen fix the trap. Scout answers whether installers, profiles, or login items changed while you were scared.
- LIKELY_OK · tab closed · no downloads · no phone call.
- FIX_LIST · named housekeeping on the card.
- ESCALATE · you installed their “remote help” app or pasted in Terminal.
