Safari Scam Popup Won't Close? Use Shift When You Reopen

If a fake virus page hijacked Safari and you could not even shut down the Mac, you are not alone. This is a browser trap, not proof your Macintosh is ruined.
First · escape the trap
Apple menu → Force Quit → Safari. If the machine is frozen, hold the power button until it powers off · then boot normally.
Reopen without the nightmare tab
Hold the Shift key · launch Safari again. Shift tells Safari not to restore the previous session tabs.
Then on your Mac
